PawsAlert ("PawsAlert," "we," "us," or "our") provides a pet emergency preparedness system consisting of a physical keychain or wallet card paired with a digital pet care profile. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, and password when you create a PawsAlert account.

Pet information: pet names, species, breed, age, photos, feeding schedules, medications, medical needs, veterinarian details, and behavioral notes that you choose to add to your pet's profile.

Caregiver information: names and phone numbers of the emergency caregivers you designate, along with any home access details you provide for their use in an emergency.

Payment information: if you purchase a PawsAlert membership, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly, in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Shipping information: if you purchase a physical item, we collect the shipping address you provide at checkout, used solely to fulfill that order.

How We Use Your Information

  • To operate your account, pet profiles, and emergency alert system

  • To send SMS alerts to your designated caregiver(s) when your PawsAlert item is scanned, and follow-up reminder messages if needed

  • To send you account-related emails (confirmations, password resets)

  • To ship physical items you've purchased

  • With your consent, to send you product updates or renewal reminders

How We Do Not Use Your Information

  • We do not sell your personal information or your caregivers' phone numbers to third parties.

  • We do not share caregiver mobile numbers with any party outside of PawsAlert's own SMS alert system.

  • We do not use your pet or caregiver data for advertising purposes.

SMS Messaging

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude mobile information from third-party sharing.

If you designate a caregiver, PawsAlert will send that caregiver text messages related to your pet's care in the event your item is scanned or an alert is otherwise triggered. Message frequency varies based on your account activity. Message and data rates may apply. Caregivers may reply STOP at any time to opt out of future messages, or reply HELP for assistance.

Data Sharing

We use third-party service providers to operate PawsAlert, including:

  • Supabase — account authentication and database hosting

  • Stripe — payment processing

  • Twilio — SMS delivery

  • Vercel — application hosting

  • Tally — waitlist signup form, if you signed up via our waitlist before creating a full account

  • [Email marketing provider — add once selected] — for renewal reminders and other account-related emails

These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes.

Your Choices

You may update or delete your pet profiles, caregiver information, and account at any time by logging into your PawsAlert dashboard. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link included in those emails, or by adjusting your communication preferences in Settings.

Data Retention

We retain your account and pet profile information for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you wish to reactivate. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

PawsAlert is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
